In the book of 1 Samuel 3, The Lord called Samuel several times, but Samuel didn't recognize it was Him who was speaking. He thought it was his mentor, Eli, whom he lived with. After realizing what was happening, Eli advised Samuel: "So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’ So Samuel went and lay down in his place.” (1 Samuel 3:9) Samuel did just that, and the Lord went from calling Samuel's name, to speaking His plans and His heart to Samuel.

Also, In the book of Habakkuk, we see the importance of writing down the what the Lord speaks/reveals: “I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.” ‭‭(Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ )
